We had such a fun time celebrating the Valentine’s season at Disneyland! There are so many cute Valentines touches, and of course some really tasty Valentines treats. If you are a fan of the season of love, we would say Disneyland is worth a Valentines visit.
It’s pretty hard to miss the Valentine’s touches as you enter Disneyland. The Mickey Mouse on the lawn at the entrance is surrounded by hearts, there are hearts on all the lamp posts and pendants, and of course there’s the adorable Valentine’s photo op on Main Street. Even the Main Street vehicles got a Valentine’s make-over.
Minnie’s Valentine’s Day Surprise
Minnie’s Valentine’s Day Surprise was a fun little scavenger hunt for valentines Minnie left around the park for Mickey and the rest of their friends. You can buy the game board and stickers for $6.99 at different locations around the park (we bought ours on Main Street where the characters tend to come out). You can choose to redeem your prize when you buy your game board, or you can come back for the prize when your board is completed. We chose to pick ours up immediately to save ourselves a trip back. The prize is a cute little set of Disney valentines, and there are two sets of valentines to choose from. Our kids had a lot of fun looking for the valentines, and loved filling up the game board with the stickers too. When you fill up the game board, the stickers even spell out a cute little message. It’s a fun little activity that is a great excuse to explore Disneyland in a new way.
Valentine’s Treats
The Valentine’s Chocolate Lava Cake from the River Belle Terrace was definitely a hit with us! I do have to say that ours wasn’t really a lava cake, there wasn’t really a difference between the inside and the outside of the cake, but it WAS rich and delicious. The passion fruit sorbet was a suprisingly nice, light and fresh touch to the rich chocolate. We give it an 9/10.
You can always count on the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe for some adorable and delicious treats, and their Valentine’s offering is an extra cute one! This Heart-shaped Mousse Dessert is a raspberry mousse with a vanilla bean crème brûlée center. We are admittedly major chocolate fans, so while we thought this dessert was tasty, we thought adding a little chocolate to the raspberry would have taken this dessert to the next level. We give it a 8/10.
The Golden Horseshoe is becoming known for their seasonal churro sundae offerings, and this time around it is the Minnie-inspired Sundae. It’s an espresso chip gelato with a cherry compote, Oreos for ears, whipped cream, and an artisan churro. It was supposed to have a chocolate bow as well, but ours was missing. We’re not sure what made the churro “artisan,” but we will say that it was extra delicious! This is definitely one for coffee fans, we would give it a 7/10.
This little birdie seemed to be hoping for some sweet crumbs to fall while we were taking pictures of our next Valentine’s treat. 😉
Our family loves churros, so we tend to try most of the seasonal offerings around the parks. This Strawberry Churro with chocolate dipping sauce is from the churro cart by the castle, and it was a definite hit. We liked it both with and without the chocolate dipping sauce. We give it a 10/10 on the seasonal churro scale.
This churro is definitely a fun one! The Valentine’s Popping Sugar Churro from the churro cart by Buzz Lightyear is a tasty twist on the classic churro. The “popping sugar” is Pop Rocks, and the Pop Rocks are crushed so they stick to the churro well and you don’t lose them immediately. Anyone else have that happen to them with some of these seasonal churros? This also means you get a good amount of “popping sugar” per bite. You can buy a side of caramel for a $1, and we liked this churro both with and without the caramel. For its extra dose of fun, we give this churro a 9/10.
Our favorite churro of the summer was the Cocoa Churro with the spiced Mexican chocolate dipping sauce and were so hoping that the churro with a similar name was going to be that same churro. To be honest, this picture is from this summer because we forgot to take a picture of the Valentine’s offering, but the two churros looked essentially identical. The Valentine’s version is called the Chocolate-Cinnamon Sugar-dusted Churro with spicy cocoa dipping sauce. While the churros tasted essentially the same, we were disappointed that the dipping sauces did not. We were much bigger fans of the Pixar fest chocolate dip, and because of that we would have to give this one a 7/10.
Disney has definitely learned how to draw people in during all seasons of the year, and the season of love is no different! The parks were definitely busier this time of year than we have ever seen them, but we definitely enjoyed the Valentine’s food and atmosphere. It’s always a fun time at Disney!
